In November 2013 "Hiking Lady" on-line magazine published an article written by Helen, "900 Mile Trek into a Blazing Wasteland."  The story describes her recent trek with her husband Bill as they traveled with members of the Berber tribe across some of the most dangerous and desolate desert on earth.

The journey was another project for Adventure Classroom where inter-cultural awareness and respect is encouraged among students of all ages. In the fall of 2013, the Mississippi State University invited Helen to present three programs to university students, faculty and 750 middle school students. Between the programs, Dr. Roger Cooper escorted Helen on a tour of the College of Veterinary Medicine. The College is a leader nationwide in research, administration and graduate education in veterinary medicine, all the way up to the PH.D level.

Helen commented that she admired the University philosophy to develop new veterinary medical discoveries and the drive they sponser to help homeless animals find new homes.   Read more...

On August 8th, 2013 Helen Thayer traveled to Portland Oregon to present her program "Planning for Success" to a group of MetLife Elite top achievers. The event was held at the prestigious Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. The building, originally built in 1928 and beautifully restored in 1984, was the perfect place to honor MetLife top achievers. Helen received a standing ovation for her presentation.

The coordinator of the event offered this comment... "Helen was AMAZING! Jaws were dropped - her story is so phenomenal! I  heard nothing but great feedback."

On July 19th, 2013 Helen presented a program for a team of Washington State's Federal Court System judges and clerks entitled "Overcoming Challenges in Adversity." The presentation took place in Seattle's Federal Office Building Auditorium.

Since the Federal Court System is presently operating under the most severe fiscal restraints in their history, the program directors wanted the dedicated professional attendees to learn more about managing and working effectively in the face of adversity. Helen taylored her message to suit their expectations.

At he end of the presentation the judges rendered their verdict -- a standing ovation.
