On June 24th, 2013, I presented a program to an international group of young women at the 2013 Women's Leadership Institute. The students from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan will return home to become leaders in their respective countries. This is the fifth year that I have presented at the Institute.

The five-week Leadership Institute hosted by Green River Community College is focused on achieving the key objectives of facilitating a deeper understanding of the United States, while enhancing leadership skills.

Helen Thayer will present the 2013 graduation speech at the Wenatchee Valley College at Omak, Washington.

Wenatchee Valley College at Omak is situated in the city of Omak in eastern Washington state. It is an important educational hub for the entire surrounding area, which consists of large, high producing ranches and related industry.

Helen states, "Over the last two years I have presented several programs to College faculty and students.

Bill and I have always received warm welcomes and hospitality beyond compare at these programs.  I always look forward to speaking to students of all ages, and especially enjoy enteracting with the college level students.

On June 9th, I traveled to Twisp, a small town nestled in the eastern foothills of the Washington state Cascade Range. My first stop was at Liberty Bell High School. The school is named after a prominent and precipitous rock formation in the Cascades.

I presentMountain Lions mascot photo.ed Polar Dream, the story of my solo ski trek to the magnetic North Pole. The feedback I received from the students and teachers was very positive. At 7pm at the Twisp Community Hall I presented Walking the Gobi, the story of Bill's and my 1,600 mile trek across the Gobi desert.
